Q Variations / No, No Yet - New sound collages by Ergo Phizmiz

"GALA" by Ergo Phizmiz, at Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival

GALA
Opening Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival, 2013

Puppet Centre and Tête à Tête co-production in collaboration with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

Gala is a puppet-opera inspired by the aged Gala Dali’s rapacious relationship with Jeff Fenholt, a young actor then playing the role of Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway.

In a collaboration springing from the 2012 Puppetry in Opera Conference, Tête à Tête works with Isobel Smith (Grist to the Mill), and puppeteers together with singers from Trinity Laban on a longer commission from Festival favourite Ergo Phizmiz following his 2012 Lite Bite Caring in the Community.

Director: Bill Bankes-Jones
Design/Puppetry: Isobel Smith
Music Director: Timothy Burke
Gala: Becca Marriott
Jesus Christ Superstar: Alex Gilchrist
Maid: Laura Monaghan
Puppeteers: Isobel Smith, Teele Uustani, Darren East

"UOEIA" Favola in Jodel by Ergo Phizmiz in Rotterdam - Video

Swiss Family Phizmiz performance of "UOEIA", favola in jodel, at Operadagen Rotterdam, 2013. A commission of DePlayer, part of the evening "That Global Glottis".

Two different cameras, both slightly incomplete. You can piece the whole thing together in your head by seeing both. If you're so inclined.

Fragments, or most of, of "UOEIA" from the camera of DePlayer's lovely Koos.

Most of "UOEIA". Filmed and edited to fit Youtube by bart plantenga , author of the books "Yodel in Hi-Fi" and "Yodel-Ay-Ee-Ooo", from which this operina takes it's theme and inspiration.

You can watch more from yodelling event That Global Glottis at bart plantenga's Youtube playlist, including Andrea Wittchen, Phil Minton, Danibal, Myriam van Imschoot, and Kutzekelina.

Photographs by Martha Moopette (mostly). Swiss Family Phizmiz adventure.

Fragments of GARGANTUA: An Excessive Entertainment

The first footage to be released of "GARGANTUA: An Excessive Entertainment" by Ergo Phizmiz & Friends.

This show, in performance, animation, collage, found-sound, and electronic music, ran for 12 shows between March and May 2013, and in true Phizmizephemerastyle is now a dead show, never to be seen again!

So, here are some bits of it. An edit of the entire piece is in progress from various parties, made of footage from the entire tour. In the meantime, dip your toes into the shallow end of this little meanderthon....

GARGANTUA was made by Ergo Phizmiz, Simon Mathewson, Martha Moopette, Flora Bertolli, Robert Lee, Nicky Mathewson, Talulah Lotus, Autumn Poppy, Rosie Mathewson, Oblivian Substanshall, Georgia Phoebe, Monkton Wylde, The Travelling Mongoose, and supported by PRS Foundation, Qujunktions, Handpressed PR, Soundart Radio, Bridport Arts Centre, and all tour venues.

Ergo Phizmiz CC Licensed Music in Sync, again....

Recent additions to the over 1400 videos online that use the Creative Commons licensed music of Ergo Phizmiz, including the staff of Vimeo having naughty fun, a young lady having even naughtier fun with a pair of scissors, another young lady having very naughty fun in a library, a spot of summer stop motion, and more treats.....
